Shortmail powered by 410 Labs, is a front end service for email through which one can send an email to a twitter user, shortmail user or any other email user with a maximum limit of 500 characters. Although the main motto of the service is 500 character email, it is not the only thing it features it has also some other interesting elements embedded in it.

The conversation made on shortmail can be either public or private, it is social, simpler (no attachments, no junk, no folder management), and better (it is having mobility, right now you can have this on your iPhone and Android smartphones). The site is completely built on HTML5 for better user experience and loads at a lightening speed.

Dave Troy is the person behind this idea and he is the one of the early user of Twitter and claims that the first twitter app  (Twittervision.com) is written by him. 410 Labs is funded with $750,000 from the investors True Ventures, 500 Startups, Abdur Chowdhury (Chief Scientist at Twitter), and Tim O’Shaughnessy (CEO, Living Social), Jeff Ganek (founder, Neustar) and several others, which will be used for expanding the team and future experiments. Thanks to TechCrunch for sharing about this service.

Surely Shortmail is Twitter for email..!
