It is a shame that Apple will not support Windows XP with its iCloud product, especially since they have no problem making sure that iTunes continues to work with XP. I guess that spending hundreds of dollars on iPhones and iPads isn’t as profitable to Apple corporate as 99 cent downloads.

No need to be harsh over Apple, even Microsoft is not supporting Windows XP and stopped supporting that, when MS does how can you expect Apple to support discontinued operating systems… PEACE…

Why I can’t sign in iCloudControlPanel using my MobileMe ID?

Carla November 4, 2011 at 1:03 am

Unfortunately, my PC is windows XP… so I’m out of luck there…
Will an older apple lap top work with iCloud? I have a Power Book G4.

I can’t get the G4 to open the iTunes store either. It says my operating system is too old?? Can I download an older version of iTunes that will work with the older
Power Book?

How can I get a free Apple id?

Marlene January 25, 2012 at 12:32 am

I followed all the instructions, but when I go to sign in with my new Apple ID, I get a box that tells me this is a valid Apple ID but it is not an iCloud account. All instructions as to how to sign up are circular and don’t help me to sign up for an iCloud account.

I have the exact same problem. I’ve come to the conclusion that you have to have an Apple device and set up the icloud account from that device. Then you can use it on your PC. Or, you could get a mobile me account and set up that way (for a fee, I think). I’d like to be wrong and would love some input.

That’s what I finally ended up doing. A friend with a Mac set up the account and then I could access it. Everything is working great now.
