Google has launched its new service called Google Wallet today. Google Wallet is an Android app which lets you store the virtual versions of your plastic cards on your mobile and make payments by just tapping your NFC (near field communication) enabled Android mobile on a compatible card reader.
Google Wallet is currently available only on Nexus S 4G over Sprint network. Right now, you can only use your Citi MasterCard cards and Google Prepaid Card to make payments using Google Wallet. You don’t need to download Google Wallet from the Android Market and it is available as an update.
Google has already announced support for Visa, Discover, and AmEx cards in the future. After this limited release, Google Wallet would eventually be available on other Android smartphones and over other mobile carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T.
Overall, Google seems to have come up with something that would change the way the world does its business.
