Compuware‘s benchmarks division Gomez, has released data which illustrates the speeds of the browsers in real-time performance conditions i.e, the way people actually experience Internet.
They have performed the tests on different browsers Google Chrome (Version 10,11,12) {UPDATE: Google Chrome 13 Released last week}, Firefox (Version 3,4,5), Safari (Version 4,5), Internet Explorer (Version 7,8,9) and Google Chrome emerges to be the winner with the lowest page load time (3.433 seconds) the one in blue in the chart below, while Apple’s Safari 4 is on the heavier side with 6.149 seconds.
The other metric they have tested is perceived render time (the one in green above) and this time Firefox 5 emerges as the winner with 2.18 seconds followed by Google Chrome with 2.374 seconds.
As an avid Internet user and a Firefox 5 user I say that Firefox is still the best among the rest as things will be improved very much with the launch of Gecko powered Firefox 6 which is under beta phase and scheduled for its launch down this month.

Personally I love chrome for its fair and simple interface but still want to say that professionally Firefox is the best.
personally or professionally Fx is the best (according to me)
Oh .. so firefox leads now !! But I still prefer to stick with Chrome
can’t say that Firefox is the top browser.. need to see things after the launch of Fx6
From my experiences:
FF: A+
Chrome: A
Safari: B+
IE: B
